IVS Committee on Education and Training

The IVS Directing Board decided on its 30iest meeting held at GFZ in Potsdam in September 2013 to create the IVS Committee on Training and Education, successing the IVS WG 6 on Education and Training. Rüdiger Haas (Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden) was voted as the Chair of the new committee. n March 2021 Nataliya Zubko (Finnish Geospatial Research Institute, National Land Survey of Finland) was elected as a new chair of the IVS CTE.

The Terms of Reference (ToR) of the IVS CTE are:

• To organize IVS Training Schools on VLBI for Geodesy and Astrometry on a triannual basis in connection to IVS General Meetings and regional VLBI meetings.
• To establish and maintain contacts to education institutions in geodesy, geosciences and astrometry worldwide with the aim to raise the interest for geodetic and astrometric VLBI among students.
• To develop education material that can be distributed to education institutions.

• 1st IVS VLBI school, 2013 Espoo
• 2nd IVS VLBI school, 2016 HartRAO
• 3rd IVS VLBI school, 2019 Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
• 4th IVS VLBI school, 2022, online
